Volunteers

Opportunities exist for "Community Support" volunteers which involves meeting/greeting clients and occasional admin tasks. It is a role ideal for 1st year trainee counsellors wishing to gain non-clinical experience in a setting working with victims of childhood abuse. Full Induction training and supervision provided. Travel expenses reimbursed. Enhanced DBS required, but this can be applied for during your Induction Training.

See poster for further details.

Counsellors/psychotherapists

Counsellors in training and qualified counsellors also needed. As a therapeutic community all Team members are expected to volunteer some hours in addition to their volunteer / paid counselling/psychotherapy hours. Enhanced DBS required but this can be applied for during your Induction Training. Particularly suitable for those practitioners wishing to work with adult victims of trauma/abuse in childhood. See poster for further details.

There is a two stage application process to be a counsellor at Aurora.  The first stage is to apply for the volunteer community support role (outlined in the flyer above) involving a weekly commitment working one “shift” a week (up to 4.5 hours) lasting for 2-3 months. This is an orientation period which would then lead on to stage two which is to apply for a clinical placement and if successful involves a period of clinical induction lasting 6-8 weeks.

The process outlined above means that applicants wouldn’t start working with clients (apart from the clinical induction period which involves counselling one volunteer “client”) for 4-5 months once the volunteer role starts.

If you are interested in either of these roles please contact us on info@aurorafoundation.org.uk for further details.
