Julie (Integrative Counsellor)
Through my personal journey I gained an insight into the strong emotional support counselling can offer and it inspired me to pursue a career in Counselling. In June 2014 I achieved a Higher Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, which has enabled me to work with children and adults. I also have a Certificate in Art Therapy from Roehampton University.
My previous counselling experience includes working as a schools counsellor with The Place To Be .I also spent two years working at the Mulberry Centre counselling those living with Cancer and those dealing with loss and grief. I began working as a Therapist for Aurora in October 2014 and am involved with the community aspect that Aurora offers too such as Workshops and Saturday Meet Ups. I also have a small private practice.
Through my work at Aurora and training with the organisation PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors) I am experienced in working with trauma and D.I.D (Dissociative Identity Disorder). I am an integrative Counsellor with the foundation of my work being Person Centred. However I am able to draw on a variety of approaches to suit your needs. I believe that providing a safe non-judgemental space within a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to begin your healing journey. I work creatively often using art to enable clients to express feelings which may be too painful to put into words. I also work with the inner child to heal the wounds experienced in childhood.
